Beijing Key Laboratory of Clothing Ergonomics and Innovation Functional Design was established in 1988 and has become one of the most intensive and influential teaching and research base after nearly 30 years’ construction and development. The professional laboratory currently is a state of art in textile fashion schools nationally as well as internationally. The lab consists of human ergonomics、textile innovation and functional design, and functional Clothing design and evaluating lab. The lab occupies 1520 square meters, with equipment initially worth up to 21.35 million Yuan. In the field of Human Engineering, material Function innovation and clothing function innovation design, the school pays attention to research in foundation theory, and actively motivate achievement transformation and industry-school collaboration. The school, in collaboration with industrial partners, set up the first national Human Engineering Research Laboratory – BIFT – Aimer Human Engineering Research Laboratory, thereafter, a research and design institute with focus on suits, innovative design on active wear and body engineering, is first founded with Shandong Nan Shan Group, 361(China) Limited, and Biemifdlkk, etc. These hybrid industry-academy cooperations have played important role in Clothing Ergonomics and Innovation Functional Design laboratory
Beijing Key Laboratory of Clothing Ergonomics and Innovation Functional Design is persistence in cutting edge areas like Human Engineering, material test and design, clothing function innovative design and evaluation, etc. The lab stays closely with national economy development, social development, the needs of national and industrial major projects. The lab has conducted a great quantity of foundation research and innovative design applications which lead to substantial achievements, such as, body measurement evaluation system acquired independent intellectual property rights, astronauts shoe design used in Shenzhou nine and ten spacecraft, and involved in formulating national cloth sizing standards, etc.
