The School of Fashion Communication of BIFT, established in 2017, is the first School in universities named after “fashion communication.”The School comprises Fashion Communication, Advertising, Photography, and Fashion Performance Departments. It offers four undergraduate majors: Communication (Fashion Communication), Advertising, Photography, and Performance (Fashion Performance, Advertising Communication, Fashion Choreography) and two master's degree programs: Fashion Communication and Fashion Performance. Each major has more than 10 years of development and has been incorporated into the School of Fashion Communication in 2017 for the emerging global fashion communication education.
The School of Fashion Communication is guided by BIFT's goal of establishing a world-class fashion institute. We focus on the broad development prospect of the emerging fashion communication discipline and utilize the resources of the fashion, cultural, and creative industries. We aim to become a global leader in fashion communication education. The School combines Chinese cultural traditions and achievements in contemporary art, design, information, and technology to provide interdisciplinary education. It connects four majors: fashion, culture, industry, and business. To create a complete fashion communication system, we promote resource sharing and collaborative innovation among the four majors through talent training programs, curriculum systems, and practical teaching platforms. We aim to cultivate fashion-frontier talents with rich knowledge backgrounds, broad vision, professional skills, creativity, and responsibility through the beauty of fashion and the power of communication. They will stand at the center of the fashion industry.
Communication generates fashion, and fashion communication is pivotal to the fashion industry and business. We focus on diverse careers: fashion journalists, editors, critics, curators, fashion models, advertising models, photographers, stylists, art directors, fashion show producers, filmmakers, advertisers, copywriters, PR experts, fashion bloggers, social activists, online marketers, etc. BIFT’s School of Fashion Communication trains students with cross-disciplinary knowledge and skills. After completion, students will have acquired the concepts and awareness of creativity, empathy, search for meaning, and the ability to plan, design and execute creative fashion communications. They will become the critical driving force in spreading fashion ideas, culture, and lifestyle and enhancing Chinese people's aesthetic ability and taste.
