The School of Fashion Accessory is committed to the characteristic education philosophy of cultivating high-level, high-quality, and versatile talents who possess moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic abilities. The school aims to meet the needs of people's good life and the development of China's fashion industry. Currently, the school offers two undergraduate majors, one master's degree conferring institution of a primary discipline, and two vocational master's degree conferring institutions. The major Product Design is a characteristic national major in design and a first-class major in Beijing. It is a recognized national first-class program by the Ministry of Education in 2019, with teaching departments for Jewelry Design, Luggage and Footwear Design, Virtual Fashion Design, and Lifestyle Design, and a national experimental teaching demonstration center. The major Industrial Design (Engineering) is a national first-class undergraduate program approved in 2020 and admits general science and engineering students.
Following BIFT's development orientation as a characteristic high-level university, the school upholds the BIFT motto of "Keeping Up with Beauty" and the design and education concept of "design for a better life" to serve the textile and apparel industry, fashion industry, creative culture industry, and related fields. We are dedicated to cultivating versatile and vocational talents determined to serve the country, society, and the capital. The major Product Design focuses on the core concept of "design for a better life" and cultivates innovative design talents by integrating interdisciplinary fields such as technology, culture, and aesthetics. The major Industrial Design highlights core research fields such as human lifestyle, AI and digital design, sustainable design, etc. and studies every possibility of linking future technologies and life. The school places equal emphasis on teaching and research development, forming a matrix of operation and management. We have established eight research centers to support the development of the discipline and the major, conduct all-around research on design theories and practice, provide academic support for the development of the major, and bridge the cultivation paths of design and technology, design and business, and design and management.
