LAMDA delegation visits BIFT to seek cooperation

A delegation from London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, led by its Principal CEO Mark O’Thomas, visited Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology on Nov 18.

At a symposium held on the day with the LAMDA guests, BIFT Party chief Huang Keying communicated with O’Thmas and his colleagues on subjects of common interest, including possible cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in the future, along with BIFT deputy head, Zou You, and some faculty members of the School of Fashion, School of Fashion Communication and relevant departments.

Huang welcomed the visit of the LAMDA delegation on behalf of the BIFT. She pointed out that LAMDA is one of the oldest and most famous performing arts schools in the world and enjoys a high reputation in the field of performing arts education. BIFT has always attached great importance to cooperation with international institutions, and hopes that both sides will take this visit as an opportunity to give full play to their respective resource advantages and explore and promote practical cooperation in multiple fields.

Zou introduced the history and development of BIFT, highlighting some of its important achievements, and the internationalization of the institute by actively leveraging its disciplinary and professional advantages. He hoped that both sides would strengthen communication and exchanges on fashion education. Representatives of the School of Fashion and School of Fashion Communication introduced their respective schools’ situation and cooperation intentions.

O’Thomas introduced the development history, scale, featured majors and future development direction of LAMDA. He said that this visit to BIFT was a valuable learning and exchange experience. He fully affirmed BIFT’s development concept, discipline layout, talent training and the achievements made in recent years in serving the country’s major strategies and discipline construction. Georgina Firmin, the commercial director at LAMDA, introduced the academy’s course settings and training facilities.

The two sides had in-depth exchanges on areas of interest and agreed to jointly explore and promote extensive cooperation between the two schools in areas such as teacher and student exchanges and talent training.

The LAMDA guests also visited the BIFT National Costume Museum, the “Chinese Structure”, “Chinese Handicraft”, “Goldsmith Jewelry” and “Shoemaking Crafts” exhibitions.
