The global results of the 2025–2026 Swarovski International Academic Competition have been officially released. Wu Yuxin, a student from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT), claimed the Global Champion title with her graduation work CHILD GUERILLA · Childlike Declaration, guided by instructors Gu Yuanyuan and Guo Ruiping.
As a prestigious high-end global fashion academic competition focusing on sustainable design, the Swarovski International Academic Competition gathers more than 30 world-renowned design universities. It comprehensively evaluates contestants’ original creativity, innovative material application, and ready-to-wear development capabilities. Inspired by dreamlike childlike innocence, the award-winning work breaks the fixed stereotypes of traditional fashion aesthetics and builds a romantic, imaginative utopia of childlike-style fashion. The design organically combines sustainable knitted fabrics with Swarovski crystal elements and innovatively adopts multi-layer handcrafted three-dimensional crystal techniques, abandoning the flat decorative form of traditional inlay. By applying integrated craftsmanship including embossed floral patterns, faint starlight textures, and three-dimensional tassels, the work delivers a highly layered and rhythmic visual effect.
Adopting a modular and multi-functional restructurable structure, the garment and matching accessories can be freely disassembled and reassembled for diverse wearing forms, embodying the zero-waste sustainable design concept through versatile innovative design. Boasting avant-garde concepts, exquisite craftsmanship, and complete presentation, the work has won acclaim from the international jury.
From inspiration generation and technical experimentation to garment production and international defense, Wu Yuxin independently completed the whole creative process, fully demonstrating her solid professional foundation, outstanding innovative capability, and broad international design vision.
