The “National Chic in Motion · Elegance Embodied” opera-themed fashion show, hosted by Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT), recently opened at its Yinghuayuan Campus. The event received guidance and support from the Drama Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
With traditional opera culture at its core, the runway show integrated modern design and digital technology. It presented over 60 sets of garments and more than 50 pieces of jewelry, created by over 60 faculty and students, across three chapters: “Innovative Opera Costumes,” “National Chic Apparel,” and “Chinese Style Jewelry.” The result of three months of preparation, during which the faculty-student team delved deeply into traditional opera elements for creative reinterpretation, the event offered an immersive live experience enhanced by computerized lighting and opera melodies. A complementary course exhibition was held concurrently, displaying the digital design achievements. Moving forward, BIFT will continue to promote the creative transformation of traditional art and to build a platform for mutual enrichment between academia and industry.
