The 15th "Science·Art· Fashion" Festival ceremony and the Final of the International Youth Designers Competition opened at 10:00 on October 20 in No.1 Show Room, Building No.7, BIFT.
Ma Shengjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of BIFT, and Ni Saili, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony. The final competition invited Anne Smith, former vice chairman of Central Saint Martins and the distinguished professor of BIFT; Liu Yuanfeng, vice president of China Fashion Association, former president of BIFT; Yang Jie, deputy dean of School of Fashion, chief designer of militia formation’s uniform of the 70th anniversary parade; Anthony Bednall, deputy dean of School of Fashion of Manchester metropolitan university, Wang Yutao and Liu Wei, Chinese Jinding Award designers and other well-known experts in the industry were on the jury.
In his speech, Ma Shengjie said: in the joyful atmosphere of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, we have witnessed the deep integration of science, art, and fashion in teaching and scientific research, and shared the brilliance of the symbiosis of multiculture. With the theme of "integration· home and abroad", the "Science· Art·Fashion" festival carries on in-depth academic exchanges around the cultivation of fashion education talents and the scientific and technological innovation of fashion industry, including more than 30 brilliant academic activities.
Subsequently, the final of the sixth International Youth Designer Competition (IYDC) grandly opened, as an important part of the 60th anniversary of the founding of BIFT and the highlights of the opening ceremony of the "Science· Art· Fashion" Festival.
The works of 34 designers appeared one by one, and the models shuttled steadily through the T platform in beautiful clothes, showing the design works vividly to the audience with a strong visual impact. In the end, Noelia Escaño from Spain won the Gold Award, KaznaAsker from the United Kingdom won the Silver Award, Yan Yishu from Hong Kong, China won the Bronze Award, and the winners of the Excellence Award were Andile Oliver Nsele from South Africa', Zhang Yu from China, Luka Mooibroek,from the Netherlands, Yu Hongling , from Taiwan, China , and Zhao Yue,from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.
