BIFT student won First Prize in the 20th OFF FASHION International Youth Fashion Designer Competition

From June 1st to 2nd, the semifinal and final of the 20th OFF FASHION International Youth Fashion Designers Competition were held at the Culture Centre of Kielce City, Poland. More than 200 groups of works by designers from all over the world participated in the competition, and 20 contestants were shortlisted to enter the final. Eleven BIFT students including Chen Jing, Li Xiaoying and Liu Xiaodong entered the semifinal and Chen Jing and Liu Xiaodong entered the final. Finally, third year student Chen Jing's work "Yin and Yang" won first place with an absolute leading score among the 20 finalists. The Polish contestant Agnieska Majoha won the prize for excellence and the exchange scholarship offered by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.  

Chen Jing was presented with first place by the Mayor of Kielce, Wojcech Rubafsky. Cheswav Gruchevsky, the Vice Mayor, Liao Qing, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and Cultural Counselor Cai Lian of the Chinese Embassy in Poland attended the ceremony. The theme of the contest was “Beauty and the Beast”. Mr. Zhou Shao-en, a faculty member at School of Fashion, BIFT was invited to be the judge of the contest. This is the fourth time that BIFT has sent students to participate in the competition since 2015. This competition not only provides a platform for students to create and demonstrate, but also provides a platform for them to learn and understand multi-culture, broaden international vision, and innovate design concepts. In 2016, BIFT signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with the city government of Kielce and Jan Kohanovsky University in Poland, cooperating in areas such as a student exchange programs, serving as judges, and organizing students to participate in competitions. Based on previous interactions, the BIFT delegation to Poland, headed by Vice-President Liao Qing, continued to promote in-depth cooperation in culture and education between BIFT and Kielce.

The delegation had cordial and friendly meetings with the city government of Kielce, Jan Kochanowski University, Institute of Fine Arts, Institute of Design on the Castle Hill, Kielce Puppet Theatre, and Mr Cai Lian, the cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Poland. Meanwhile, the students have made fruitful achievements and improvements through the competition and various cultural exchanges with Celtic City, Poland. This Poland competition has further expanded our school's international influence and has promoted BIFT’s internationalization process.
